China acusa EE.UU. de “difundir rumores” sobre planes en Cuba

China acusó a Estados Unidos de “difundir rumores y calumnias”, tras la información del diario estadounidense The Wall Street Journal de que Pekín y La Habana han firmado un acuerdo por el que el país asiático instalará en la isla caribeña un centro secreto de espionaje para interceptar comunicaciones de EEUU.

El periódico, que cita a “funcionarios estadounidenses al tanto de informaciones clasificadas”, considera que el acuerdo es por el momento solo de principio y tendría como contrapartida el pago de miles de millones de dólares por parte de China a Cuba.

“Todos sabemos que la difusión de rumores y calumnias es una táctica habitual para Estados Unidos”, declaró en una rueda de prensa el portavoz de la Cancillería china Wang Wenbin, que agregó que Washington “lleva mucho tiempo ocupando ilegalmente la base de Guantánamo en Cuba”.

Asimismo, Wang acusó a la nación norteamericana de “participar en actividades ocultas” en el país caribeño y de “imponer un embargo” a la isla “desde hace más de 60 años”.

El vocero recomendó a las autoridades estadounidenses “reflexionar”, “dejar de interferir en los asuntos internos cubanos bajo el pretexto de la democracia y los derechos humanos” y “cancelar inmediatamente el bloqueo (embargo) financiero” sobre Cuba.

El diario supone que una base de espionaje en Cuba, a menos de 150 kilómetros de Florida (EE.UU.), sería útil para conocer el detalle del tráfico marítimo en una región con una gran cantidad de bases militares, así como para monitorear todas las comunicaciones electrónicas del sureste de Estados Unidos. La noticia se produce en un momento en el que medios estadounidenses han asegurado que el secretario de Estado de Estados Unidos, Antony Blinken, viajará en los próximos días a China, extremo no confirmado ni por Pekín ni por Washington.
