La secretaria de Prensa de la Casa Blanca, Jen Psaki, no ha descartado satisfacer la petición de las autoridades haitianas para el envío de tropas después del asesinato la semana pasada del presidente haitiano, Jovenel Moise.
«Eso es correcto… Todavía se está revisando», ha afirmado Psaki en rueda de prensa al ser interrogada por la petición de Haití. Más tarde ha señalado que la propuesta no ha sido descartada.
Psaki se ha referido también a la delegación estadounidense, que se ha reunido con «el primer ministro interino, Claude Joseph, y con el primer ministro designado, Ariel Henry», así como con el presidente del Senado, Joseph Lambert, las tres figuras que se reivindican como principal autoridad tras la muerte de Moise.
«Lo que deja claro el viaje es que falta claridad sobre el futuro de la dirección política», ha indicado Psaki en su intervención en la sala de prensa de la Casa Blanca.
Los delegados estadounidenses también se han reunido con la Policía y han revisado «la seguridad de las infraestructuras críticas con funcionarios del Gobierno haitiano», en línea con el compromiso de Washington de para buscar «justicia», ha explicado previamente la portavoz del Consejo de Seguridad Nacional estadounidense, Emily Horne.
