El cantante colombiano Maluma se sumará al ecléctico megaconcierto gratuito con el que la ciudad de Nueva York busca celebrar a finales de este mes su reapertura, después de los duros meses de pandemia.
Según anunció este jueves el alcalde de la Gran Manzana, Bill de Blasio, Maluma es la última «superestrella global» en sumarse a una larga lista de iconos musicales y del entretenimiento que actuarán en Central Park el próximo 21 de agosto.
«Es muy importante para mucha gente en esta ciudad tener a una estrella de este calibre en un cartel que ya está plagado de estrellas» como Patti Smith, Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon, Carlos Santana y el grupo The Killers, dijo.
«Esto va a hacer más increíble algo que ya lo es (…). Todo trata de que nos volvamos a unir», agregó De Blasio sobre el evento, llamado «We Love NYC: The Homecoming Concert» (Amamos Nueva York: el concierto de la vuelta a casa).
El concierto, que tendrá lugar en una de las grandes praderas del parque, con capacidad para 60.000 personas, está siendo organizado por el célebre productor musical Clive Davis junto a la empresa Live Nation
Entre los artistas anunciados figuran Andrea Bocelli, Kane Brown, LL COOL J, Elvis Costello, Earth, Wind & Fire, Wyclef Jean, Journey, Polo G, Barry Manilow y la Orquesta Filarmónica de Nueva York.
También está prevista la participación de cómicos y presentadores como Jimmy Fallon, Gayle King y Don Lemon.
La inmensa mayoría de las entradas serán gratuitas, pero para poder acceder se tiene que demostrar haber recibido la vacuna contra la covid-19, en lo que supone un nuevo incentivo para la inmunización en la ciudad.
Tras haber sido una de las zonas más golpeadas por la covid-19, Nueva York está acelerando su reapertura y tratando de reactivar la economía local y el turismo, que es una de sus grandes fuentes de ingresos.
Aunque la Gran Manzana ha levantado ya la mayor parte de las restricciones que tenía impuestas al ocio y la hostelería, hasta ahora no ha celebrado ningún evento de este tamaño.
El megaconcierto se enmarca en una semana de actividades repartidas por los cinco distritos de la Gran Manzana con actuaciones en directo, películas al aire libre, arte público y promociones en restaurantes.
