En Dominicana suben a 30 los muertos en vacaciones de Semana Santa

La cifra de muertos durante el asueto de Semana Santa en Republica Dominicana aumentaron a 30, cuatro más que ayer, informó hoy el Centro de Operaciones de Emergencias (COE) en su último boletín, en el que precisó que 15 personas fallecieron en las aéreas que cubría el operativo “Conciencia por la Vida Semana Santa 2023” y 15 fuera del mismo.

El general retirado Juan Manuel Méndez En rueda de prensa, el director del COE, dijo en rueda de prensa, que de la totalidad de muertos, 18 fueron por motocicletas, dos por atropellamiento, seis por vehículos livianos y cuatro por asfixia por inmersión.

Se registraron un total de 164 accidentes de tránsito durante el operativo, resultando 227 personas afectadas. De esos, 124 involucraron motocicletas, 27 vehículos livianos, 10 atropellamientos y 3 vehículos pesados.

Durante el operativo del año pasado hubo un registro de 187 accidentes de tránsito y este año se registraron 164, para una reducción de un 13.7%.

El pasado jueves, el COE lanzó dicho operativo, que involucró decenas de instituciones públicas en la prevención y atención de incidentes durante ese asueto.

En el mismo participaron 48,578 personas, además, fueron desplegados 3,237 puestos de socorro, 570 ambulancias, 252 unidades de respuestas inmediata (URI), 49 puestos de grúas, 16 dispositivos de protección y asistencia vial, 19 embarcaciones, 24 puestos con carro- taller y 3 helicópteros.

En ese momento, durante la rueda de prensa, el director del COE dijo que se contaría con 10 centros de Atención Prehospitalaria, 2 hospitales móviles, 43 autobuses de la Oficina Metropolitana de Servicios de Autobuses (OMSA), 21 centros para la ubicación y atención de niños extraviados y 9 centros de mandos regionales.

Comipol

El COE señaló que en el operativo la Comisión Militar y Policial (Comipol) realizó 3,458 asistencias viales en los distintos tramos carreteros del país.

Esta institución el pasado jueves dispuso la integración de 2,562 hombres y 401 vehículos en su operativo de reforzamiento por motivo de la Semana Santa.
Durante un acto en la estación de peaje de Las Américas, el director de la Comipol, general de brigada Rafael Vásquez Espínola, ERD, precisó que ese reforzamiento incluiría 243 unidades patrulleras de asistencia vial y seguridad ciudadana, 40 ambulancias y otros equipos.

Policía

De su lado, la Policía, en apoyo a las acciones del COE, lanzó un operativo para reforzar la seguridad ciudadana, durante un acto en el que el director de esa institución, mayor general Eduardo Alberto Then, hizo un llamado a los uniformados a reafirmar su rol como servidores públicos y protectores de la vida y la seguridad.

“Esta es una amplia jornada que debemos asumir con marcada entereza y suma responsabilidad, a fin de evitar que desaprensivos aprovechen este feriado para cometer actos delictivos, acentuando nuestras acciones en la prevención”, externó.

Iglesia

El Viernes Santo, la Iglesia católica leyó el tradicional sermón de las siete palabras, leído por tres mujeres (por primera vez) y cuatro sacerdotes, quienes hablaron sobre la dignidad de las mujeres, el enriquecimiento ilícito, la corrupción, los daños al medio ambiente, la emigración y la privatización del agua.

Las palabras fueron dichas por Sor Lourdes Martínez, de la congregación Hijas de la Altagracia; las hermanas Angela Cabrera, fundadora de la Comunidad Discípula Misionera por la Santidad; y Ofelia Pérez, directora general de las Altagracianas.

Además, por Luis Rodríguez Simé, vicario adjunto de Pastoral del Distrito Nacional; Cesáreo Núñez, director de la Pastoral Sacerdotal de la Vicaría Santo Domingo Este; Isaías Mata Castillo, vicario Santo Domingo Oeste y y Robert Valentín Alcántara Belén, arciprestre de la Zona Pastoral Villa Mella-Guanuma.

Puerto Plata

El largo asueto de la Semana Santa 2023 concluyó. En Puerto Plata no se registraron muertos, pero sí dejó un total de 61 personas afectadas, informó el Comité Provincial de Prevención, Mitigación y Respuesta en su boletín final de ayer domingo. El informe rendido por el director provincial de la Defensa Civil, Whascar García, explica que de los afectados, 26 recibieron atenciones en módulos de playas, cinco niños resultaron extraviados, localizados y posteriormente entregados a sus padres. De igual manera, dos personas resultaron intoxicadas por alcohol, cinco por intoxicación alimentaria y 17 por accidentes de tránsito.
